Par City is bringing hip-hop back to its birthplace. Made up of Willy Dope, Anti, and GiF, born and raised in the holla-atcha-boy, crazy times, please believe it, believe it please, boogy down, motha$%&*@ Bronx. Anti, GiF, and Willy Dope each have different tastes in music. GiF is the poet, Anti is the mainstream artist and Willy Dope is the back-pack rapper all coming together to form a unique sound of what is Par City.

Mysto and Pizzi are hugely talented, they have a natural ability to make dope beats that make you bump your head no matter what type of music you listen to. they also made the remake of “Somebody’s Watching Me”, played in the GEICO commercials. NBC has a death grip on all Olympic video content, making it impossible for us to post the sick video of Shaun White’s gold-win in Vancouver. On his second run on the half-pipe, White included the “Double McTwist 1260,” a double backward flip with 2-1/2 revolutions ending in a blind landing, and ended with the best score of the day of 48.4 points. that’s badass.

The Parkour Movement

We learned more about the art of “Parkour” (aka Freerunning) through our boy Jesse La Flair. If you don’t know what Parkour is, take a look at this video Jesse recently made and prepare to be blown away. – this shit is crazy . . . and really impressive.

We also found this description on Wikipedia: “Parkour (sometimes also abbreviated to PK) or l’art du déplacement (English: the art of moving) is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one’s path by adapting one’s movements to the environment. The object of parkour is to get from one place to another using only the human body and the objects in the environment. The obstacles can be anything in one’s environment, but parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of the many suitable public structures available such as buildings and rails.”

As we have said before, we aim to bring in all the different aspects that make up the Concrete Jungle into the fold of the brand. Parkour definitely has its roots in the environment of a Concrete Jungle because the Concrete Jungle is the playground of the Parkour movement.

We asked Jesse how he came across this passion and how he realized he had a talent for it . . .

“ever since i could remember I was jumping off stuff and training my body to be in the best shape I could . . . At some point in college I watched a video of guys doing what I learned then was called Parkour. Now I’ve climbed my fair share of roofs and stuff to bomb some murals and such but… Idk giving it a name and calling it a discipline was eye opening. The more I learned about it the more it intrigued me. I have always been interested in pushing myself and thats what parkour is. I train alone a lot and I like to because the only one that can convince you to do something is yourself. Life is filled with obstacles physically and metaphorically, and Parkour teaches you that every obstacle can be overcome. Progression is progression no matter how small or large.”
